Overview
The Welder position involves performing various types of welds using orbital TIG and/or laser welding equipment, ensuring that welds meet specified requirements. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding assignments according to the blueprint and routing procedure sheet.
- Select proper tooling and fixturing required to run the job.
- Setup the welding machine to the proper settings to achieve the proper penetration on the weld joint.
- Make adjustments required for proper gas backing for the weld.
- Inspect welds for proper fusion and for flaws such as skips, pits, or lack of good penetration.
- Make required repairs to defective weld areas or castings as discovered.
- Weld for repair any broken and special fixturing and tooling as needed.
- Notify quality control representatives and supervision of any parts with a high level of defects.
- Clean and maintain welding equipment and working area free of safety hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two years of related experience or technical school graduate specializing in welding curriculum.
- Ability to read, write, and process all instructions, written or verbal.
- Ability to use lifting and moving equipment as required.
- Ability to perform TIG and Laser welding operations in various physical positions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Quality-oriented mindset with high attention to detail.
- Ability to complete tasks in a safe and accurate manner.
- Ability to read and understand basic manufacturing mechanical blueprints.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed and alter hours as business needs dictate.
