Job Description

Overview

The Welder position involves performing various types of welds using orbital TIG and/or laser welding equipment, ensuring that welds meet specified requirements. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding assignments according to the blueprint and routing procedure sheet.
  • Select proper tooling and fixturing required to run the job.
  • Setup the welding machine to the proper settings to achieve the proper penetration on the weld joint.
  • Make adjustments required for proper gas backing for the weld.
  • Inspect welds for proper fusion and for flaws such as skips, pits, or lack of good penetration.
  • Make required repairs to defective weld areas or castings as discovered.
  • Weld for repair any broken and special fixturing and tooling as needed.
  • Notify quality control representatives and supervision of any parts with a high level of defects.
  • Clean and maintain welding equipment and working area free of safety hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years of related experience or technical school graduate specializing in welding curriculum.
  • Ability to read, write, and process all instructions, written or verbal.
  • Ability to use lifting and moving equipment as required.
  • Ability to perform TIG and Laser welding operations in various physical positions.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Quality-oriented mindset with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to complete tasks in a safe and accurate manner.
  • Ability to read and understand basic manufacturing mechanical blueprints.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed and alter hours as business needs dictate.
