CTR Group is seeking a Pipe Welder local to the Norfolk, VA area with immediate openings and is urgently hiring. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and emphasizes safety in the workplace.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret basic drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Successfully complete company weld tests, including procedures in the 6GR position.
- Pass company TIG weld test procedures for Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, and Copper-Nickel (CUNI) pipe.
- Follow company housekeeping procedures to maintain a safe and organized work environment.
- Inspect work, identify potential issues, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Support and promote quality procedures within the department.
- Collaborate as a productive team member to meet daily goals set by the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively and adapt to changing priorities within the team.
- Contribute to building a positive team environment.
- Demonstrate pride in workmanship and quality through on-the-job training.
- Participate in innovation and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Assist in minimizing waste of materials, consumables, and other resources.
- Support the supervisor in maintaining department equipment and ensuring proper upkeep.
- Provide and maintain a full set of personal tools required for the role, or request reasonable accommodation as needed.

Requirements
- Perform TIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe.
- Successfully pass 'A Class' skills validation test for restricted open root welds.
- Complete onboarding procedures and meet 6GR weld qualification test requirements for copper nickel, carbon steel, and stainless steel.
- Safely and appropriately use required tools and equipment.
- Properly utilize personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA standards.
- Work in environments with varying temperatures (hot and cold).
