Overview

PALA Interstate, LLC is seeking a Tank Welder who will lay out, fit, and weld together metal components for products such as pipelines, boilers, tanks, and structural steel. The ideal candidate will interpret job specifications and blueprints, and complete tasks with minimal supervision while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lay out, fit, and weld metal components for various products.
  • Read and interpret job specifications, plans, and blueprints.
  • Use basic math skills for work calculations.
  • Understand and follow all safety rules and set an example in safety, quality, and production.
  • Weld to Section 9 of ASME Code in all positions.
  • Operate air arc-gouging and burning torch.
  • Use air and electric power tools for tank repair.
  • Recognize proper fit up of weld joints and follow welding methods.
  • Exemplify proper rigging techniques.
  • Control banding and peaking in horizontal and vertical seams.
  • Weld linear feet of acceptable seal pass, jet weld, and corner weld using specified electrodes.
  • Complete welding tasks with minimal pickup work.
  • Work at elevations using vertical ladders and scaffolds.
  • Perform work under breathing air conditions.
  • Work in confined spaces and operate a Man-Lift.

Requirements

  • Minimum three years’ experience in welding with SMAW, GTAW, and Flux Core process.
  • Must pass required welding test as required by the specific job site.
  • High School or GED preferred but not required.
  • Trade School program preferred but not required.
