At Alcon, we're dedicated to enhancing sight and improving global eye health through innovation and teamwork. The Machinist - Fabricator role focuses on applying technical skills in machining and fabrication to support maintenance programs for facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders).
• Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
• Machine parts to required tolerances, finishes, and dimensions.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and adjust tooling, speeds, and feeds as required.
• Lay out, cut, form, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
• Perform welding processes such as MIG, TIG, and Stick as required.
• Fabricate frames, brackets, guards, fixtures, platforms, and structural components.
• Repair damaged equipment and modify existing structures to improve reliability and safety.
• Ensure weld quality meets applicable standards and specifications.
• Support emergency breakdown repairs and improvement work.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Engineering.
• Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment and tools.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
• 3 Years of Relevant Experience.
• CNC machining experience preferred.
• Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) preferred.
• Experience with CMMS (e.g., Maximo) preferred.

• Location: Onsite Houston, TX.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday 9 to 5:30pm.
