Job Description

Overview

The Pipefitter Journeyman is responsible for planning, laying out, installing, testing, and repairing various piping systems according to applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. This skilled position requires a strong working knowledge of different types of piping systems and the ability to work effectively with tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of various types of pipe and pipe systems.
  • Read isometric drawings, take measurements, fabricate and install piping efficiently.
  • Align, bolt, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products for welding.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications.
  • Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation.
  • Distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials.
  • Manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment including beveling machines, cut-off grinders, and pipe threaders.
  • Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports.
  • Hydro test piping systems.
  • Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities for work activities.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications.

Requirements

  • May require a high school diploma or equivalent with previous experience in the field.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, and layout tools.

Additional Information

  • Able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have all required tools.
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft).
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required.
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
