Overview

The Fleet Mechanic Shop Helper supports Fleet Mechanics in maintaining, repairing, and servicing Company vehicles, trailers, and equipment. This position assists with routine maintenance tasks, shop organization, parts inventory, and general labor duties to ensure fleet equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mechanics with preventative maintenance and repairs on Company vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Perform routine shop duties including cleaning, organizing, and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Assist with oil changes, filter replacements, tire maintenance, fluid checks, battery replacement, and other basic maintenance tasks.
  • Wash, clean, and prepare vehicles and equipment for service or return to operation.
  • Retrieve, organize, and stock parts, tools, and supplies.
  • Assist with inventory management and tracking of parts and shop materials.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment for cleanliness, damage, or maintenance needs and report findings to management.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and transporting parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as assigned.
  • Follow all Company safety policies, procedures, and environmental requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous mechanical, automotive, maintenance, or shop experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screenings as required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn fleet maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and basic shop equipment.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.

Additional Information

  • This position primarily works in a fleet maintenance shop environment and may occasionally work outdoors at Company facilities or job sites.
  • Exposure to noise, grease, oils, fuels, cleaning chemicals, and varying weather conditions should be expected.
