The Truck Mechanic position in Baytown, TX involves performing mechanical functions such as inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment to ensure safe and productive performance. Responsibilities
- Complete all records of work performed and comply with regulations.
- Be punctual, cleanly dressed, and available for scheduled shifts.
- Supply and maintain defective-free hand tools.
- Test drive repaired vehicles to ensure proper repairs.
- Inspect and work with brakes as per federal regulations.
- Perform vehicle inspections according to federal qualifications.
- Use diagnostic equipment and perform welding and cutting.
- Maintain equipment quality and minimize costs.
- Participate in training programs and safety meetings.
- Review procedures for compliance with standards.
- Optimize work to minimize overtime.
- Assist in scheduling repairs when the Shop Foreman is unavailable.
- Perform remedial and preventative maintenance.
- Maintain facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping.
- Participate in cross training to develop skills.
- Use and wear all required PPE.
- Work the evening shift from 3:30 PM to 12:30 AM.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred.
- Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment preferred.
- Minimum of 3+ years mechanic experience required.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
- Ability to test drive repaired vehicles.
- Ability to read and interpret documents and regulations.
- Basic mathematical calculation skills required.
- Basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel required.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proactive in addressing issues and completing tasks.
- Demonstrates dependability and commitment to the role.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in various conditions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and transport loads up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to take call-outs and work overtime required.
- Must live or relocate within 1 hour of reporting location.
