Overview
Oshkosh AeroTech, a leading provider of aviation ground support products, is seeking a Certified Welder to fabricate, join, and repair metal components at LAX Airport. The role requires specialized welding skills and a commitment to safety while supporting facility operations.
Responsibilities
- Fabricates, joins, and/or repairs equipment, fixtures and various types of metal objects and structures using MIG, TIG, stick, or other welding processes.
- Welds according to specifications and company/customer requirements.
- Applies specialized skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment in area of expertise.
- Executes welds in all positions including from underneath, to the side, in a variety of shapes and more.
- Performs minor maintenance duties and assists trade technicians in and around airport facilities.
- Responds to and corrects issues that may exist within the facility, equipment, or systems.
- Reports issues found that could potentially lead to additional system and/or equipment failures.
- Inputs accurate information into the CMMS.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and keeps all employees aware of dangers in work area.
- Practices good housekeeping in work area.
- Responsible for understanding and following all Hazardous Waste Management duties and responsibilities.
- Completes other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent technical/vocational/military training/related experience.
- Two (2) or more years of welding experience with at least one (1) year of experience in general maintenance.
- Knowledge of welding techniques including MIG, TIG, Stick - aluminum and stainless steel is a plus.
- Ability to comprehend all blueprints and schematics.
- Demonstrated ability in troubleshooting.
- Proficient in all key weldments.
- Ability to use personal computer or workstation.
- Demonstrate ability to use all appropriate tools, measuring devices, forklifts, cranes, and fixtures required.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate personnel assignments within the department.
- Effectively communicate and solve issues that cross departmental boundaries.
