Overview
Long Beach Transit (LBT) is hiring a Mechanic to perform various repairs, inspections, and maintenance on a diverse fleet of buses, including diesel, CNG, gasoline hybrids, and battery propulsion systems. Responsibilities
- Demonstrate safe working practices.
- Troubleshoot, service, and repair diesel, CNG, gasoline hybrid, and battery powered propulsion systems.
- Work with all tools of the trade, including bus computer-based diagnostic software programs.
- Perform all preventative maintenance inspections.
- Inspect and maintain air systems and air brake components.
- Perform detailed electrical repairs and diagnose component failures.
- Perform suspension repairs and maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Work independently performing over-the-road repairs.
- Perform engine and transmission diagnosis and repairs.
- Assist other mechanics as needed.
- Learn new technologies.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years or older with a valid California Class C driver’s license.
- Excellent safe driving record and a Class B driver’s permit, with the ability to upgrade to a Class B license.
- Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED.
- Two years of full-time hands-on vehicle mechanic experience or equivalent training.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, heavy equipment, and alternative fuel.
- Intermediate knowledge with computer diagnostics and computer skills.
