Overview
The Workshop Technician role at Edwards involves repairing and rebuilding vacuum pumps according to manufacturer specifications while ensuring high-quality standards. The position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of operating various tools and maintaining safety standards in the workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, decontaminate, clean, and inspect vacuum pumps for repair.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, sand blaster, and pressure washing machines safely.
- Take and upload pictures of pumps during disassembly and repair.
- Read and understand OEM manuals and technical drawings.
- Measure and inspect parts for conformance to engineering design.
- Assist in determining whether parts can be repaired or need replacement.
- Look up part numbers and enter them into work orders.
- Perform repairs and rebuilds of pumps to ensure proper operation.
- Test equipment to meet quality control requirements.
- Learn and understand each type of vacuum pump and its operation.
- Comply with paperwork requirements, including work orders and quality documents.
- Record all test results accurately on work orders.
- Paint vacuum pumps to specified colors.
- Prepare pumps for shipping, including pallet building and documentation.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Assist with cleaning the workshop.
- Operate forklift and/or heavy equipment as necessary.
- Enter safety observations into the SHE Behavioral Observations portal.
- Complete required compliance training throughout the year.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- One year in a mechanic or related role required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to work with hand and power tools.
- Ability to operate a forklift and/or heavy equipment if necessary.
- Proven history of working with hand tools and measuring devices.
- Proven history of working in a detail-oriented role.
- Working knowledge of the Vacuum industry preferred.
- Ability to drive customer success through strong relationships.
