Overview

The Golf Course Mechanic II position at Arrowhead Golf Club involves assisting the Golf Course Mechanic in implementing a preventive maintenance program for golf course equipment. The Wheaton Park District, established in 1921, is committed to enhancing community life through its parks and recreational services.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the implementation of the golf course’s preventive maintenance program.
• Repair equipment and maintain records of parts and labor.
• Purchase and oversee inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Maintain and operate an accurate equipment log.
• Assist with maintenance, inspection, repair, and renovation of vehicles and ground equipment.
• Perform welding procedures including arc, acetylene, and MIG welding.
• Adjust mowers' height of cut (HOC) as needed.
• Assist with grinding and maintenance of mower blades.
• Help establish and implement a preventive maintenance schedule.
• Assist with recycling used oil and hazardous materials.
• Participate in mowing and snow removal activities.
• Assist with trade-related projects such as plumbing and irrigation.
• Maintain a clean service area and maintenance building.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and operators.
• Provide high-quality customer service.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED required.
• At least two years of experience in auto repair or maintenance.
• Working knowledge of light and heavy maintenance equipment.
• Experience with maintaining reel-type mowers and automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within one year.
• Equipment specific certifications are desirable.
