Overview

Bechtel is seeking a Lead Welding Field Engineer to manage field and subcontractor welding programs, ensuring compliance and resource availability for projects in various sectors including manufacturing and technology. Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain Bechtel Field Welding program, serving as Lead Field Welding Engineer on large projects.
  • Provide specialized welding engineering support for construction to meet code and client specifications.
  • Assist in managing the pre- and post-weld heat treatment program.
  • Manage the rod room to ensure compliance with welding material requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate non-destructive examination (NDE) with construction and subcontractors.
  • Monitor the welding test lab to ensure quality welder testing and hiring.
  • Review and update weld documents to maintain the credibility of the Welding Program.
  • Manage welder qualifications and stamps.
  • Perform field inspections of welding work and advise on quality rectifications.
  • Lead the implementation of subcontractors and direct hire Pre/Post Weld Heat Treatment program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent and 10-13 years of relevant experience, or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • NDE certifications including PT, MT, and LT (Vac Box).
  • Knowledge of AWS, API, NFPA, AWWA, ASTM, and ASNT codes and standards.
  • Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience.
  • Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW.
  • Intermediate understanding of preheat/post weld heat treatment.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes.
  • Ability to motivate team members in a collaborative environment.
  • Problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience on an LNG construction site along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Strong technical background in LNG welding applications and methods.
  • Understanding of Bechtel work processes and welding programs.
  • Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs).
