Overview

The Mechanic B position at Valley Metro Tempe requires a skilled individual with experience in heavy equipment maintenance and a strong focus on safety. The role involves performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various types of coaches, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections on all types of coaches following specific check lists.
• Fill out work orders specifying parts and labor.
• Inspect and verify problems on coaches using various diagnostic equipment.
• Clean, repair, and replace coach equipment as required.
• Test coaches for proper working order including road driving tests.
• Utilize computer diagnostic equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot coach electrical functions.
• Review repair manuals and part manuals for aid in making repairs.
• Perform both in-house and road call coach repairs using various tools.
• Repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and service electrical buses.
• Maintain detailed and timely paperwork and documentation for repairs and installations.
• Assist other mechanics with repair work and provide guidance.
• Perform on-the-job instruction to Mechanics B and C.
• Inspect, review, and evaluate work performance.
• Adhere to Keolis and client policies and procedures.
• Ensure a safe work environment and perform general housekeeping.

Requirements

• Three (3) years progressive heavy equipment maintenance required.
• ASE Transit Certificate Preferred (H4, H5, H8 preferred).
• Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED and valid Arizona CDL with Passenger endorsement are required.
• Experience with diagnostic computer equipment and software required.
• Understanding of the design, maintenance, and adjustments of various equipment.
• Hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft applications.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.

Additional Information

• Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment.
• Employment contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and background check.
