Overview

Boart Longyear is seeking a Sonic Mechanic to gain valuable knowledge of Sonic Drill heads, primarily working in the workshop with opportunities to travel to jobsites. The role involves servicing, repairing, and maintaining Sonic Drill heads and supporting equipment, contributing to the company's legacy of safe and reliable drilling services since 1890.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties designed to service, repair and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of Sonic Drill Heads and support equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems in equipment and perform quick turnaround to get drill heads back in operation.
  • Remain in a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Lift arms above shoulder level to install and remove components.
  • Use hand and power tools in areas of limited space.
  • Work safely and adhere to all policies and requirements.
  • Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Travel to jobsites as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor, driller, and safety personnel.
  • Follow instructions while paying close attention to detail.
  • Work with little or no supervision.

Requirements

  • Hydraulic systems experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of small engine repairs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is preferred.
  • Knowledge of failure analysis and root cause preferred.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
  • Pass a drug screen.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to be MSHA/OSHA certified.
