Overview
As an Avionics Mechanic in the Army National Guard, you will ensure the proper operation of electrical systems that assist pilots in safely flying aircraft. You will receive training to perform maintenance on various tactical communication, navigation, and flight control equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform operational and preventive checks and alignments on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics, and controlled cryptographic equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment using technical manuals and schematic drawings.
- Inspect and maintain electrical systems including wiring and electrical connections.
- Repair and/or replace instruments as necessary.
- Maintain common/special tools and equipment.
- Maintain shop and bench stock for aircraft avionics equipment.
Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
- Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate.
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
- Must meet citizenship requirements.

Additional Information
- Most non-prior service candidates will earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend.
