Overview
At GAF, the Fleet Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring fleet readiness and safety through a proactive preventative maintenance program. This position involves maintaining a diverse fleet of trucks and trailers while supporting the company's commitment to innovation and community.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and performs complex mechanical repairs on International tractors and heavy-duty fleet trucks.
- Executes preventative maintenance inspections and routine servicing for various trailer types.
- Manages the Hutchins shop operations, including organizing tooling and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Oversees parts inventory management and coordinates with vendors for optimal stock levels.
- Provides mobile service support, including emergency road calls and local travel.
- Maintains accurate digital and manual repair records using fleet maintenance software.
- Ensures compliance with DOT regulatory standards for equipment and repair activities.
- Supports the Corporate Fleet Maintenance & Asset Manager in identifying equipment replacement needs.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks.
- Valid Driver's License required; Class A CDL strongly preferred.
- Proven proficiency in maintaining diverse trailer types.
- Ability to manage parts inventory and collaborate with external vendors.
- Working knowledge of ATA VMRS coding and fleet maintenance systems.
- Must possess personal tools and equipment for mechanical repair.

- Base Hourly Rate: $36.06
