Overview
The Tool Room Clerk at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is responsible for maintaining a safe and effective learning environment by managing tools, equipment, and supplies for students and faculty. AIM, established in 1969, is a leading institution in aviation maintenance education, contributing significantly to the training of certified aircraft technicians in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently issue, track, inspect, and maintain tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Implement and oversee safety programs, tool inspections, calibrations, and maintenance.
- Monitor inventory levels, anticipate shortages, and maintain records of lost or damaged tools.
- Assemble and issue tools and materials for class projects, recording issuance and returns.
- Generate a 'Lost Tool Report' for tools not returned during shifts.
- Maintain a tool inspection and safety program.
- Control broken tools and report them to the Director of Education.
- Maintain an inspection and calibration program for precision measuring devices.
- Perform routine maintenance and required calibration on training equipment.
- Verify the availability of tools and training equipment for class projects.
- Assist in sourcing and purchasing tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and other workplace safety regulations.
- Participate in facility and equipment maintenance activities.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
- At least three years in a position requiring use of hand tools and equipment similar to that found in an aircraft repair shop.
- Basic computer skills, including keyboarding, e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Exhibits a positive, team-oriented attitude and flexibility to work outside of scheduled hours.
