Overview

The Assembler at AMETEK STC performs mechanical or electro-mechanical sub-assembly work following verbal instructions or established procedures, utilizing simple hand tools. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work with small parts in a clean and safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs assembly operations by wire bonding, soldering, spot welding, staking, or epoxying.
  • Conducts assembly under a microscope.
  • Hand solders pins, cables, components, sub-assemblies, and completed units.
  • Operates ultrasonic welding apparatus.
  • Attaches various I.C.s, transistors, resistors, or thermistors to P.C. boards.
  • Performs oil fill operations.
  • Conducts tests for some final units.
  • Performs life testing programs utilizing a computer.
  • Provides training or instruction of co-workers and other employees when needed.
  • May operate turning-center-assisted tig welding to specific programs established by Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • May rotate to other workstations in the unit.
  • Meets or exceeds department’s targets set by supervisor/managers.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to follow workplace safety standards and company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a team setting and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize meeting deadlines.
  • Soldering experience (or Certificate) preferred.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts.
  • Basic computer skills.

Additional Information

  • Work is typically performed at a bench and may include walking or standing some of the time.
  • The physical demands include using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and talking or hearing.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs and up to 50 lbs.
