Overview
The Assembler at AMETEK STC performs mechanical or electro-mechanical sub-assembly work following verbal instructions or established procedures, utilizing simple hand tools. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work with small parts in a clean and safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Performs assembly operations by wire bonding, soldering, spot welding, staking, or epoxying.
- Conducts assembly under a microscope.
- Hand solders pins, cables, components, sub-assemblies, and completed units.
- Operates ultrasonic welding apparatus.
- Attaches various I.C.s, transistors, resistors, or thermistors to P.C. boards.
- Performs oil fill operations.
- Conducts tests for some final units.
- Performs life testing programs utilizing a computer.
- Provides training or instruction of co-workers and other employees when needed.
- May operate turning-center-assisted tig welding to specific programs established by Manufacturing Engineering.
- Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
- May rotate to other workstations in the unit.
- Meets or exceeds department’s targets set by supervisor/managers.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2+ years of experience preferred.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks at the same time.
- Ability to follow workplace safety standards and company policies and procedures.
- Ability to work in a team setting and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize meeting deadlines.
- Soldering experience (or Certificate) preferred.
- Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to work with small parts.
- Basic computer skills.
Additional Information
- Work is typically performed at a bench and may include walking or standing some of the time.
- The physical demands include using hands to finger, handle, or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and talking or hearing.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs and up to 50 lbs.
