Overview
The Maintenance Technician supports port and terminal operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on automated production systems, marine terminal equipment, and facility infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and supporting the safe and efficient movement of cargo through the terminal.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automated production line equipment.
- Maintain and repair terminal equipment, including cranes and forklifts.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize operational downtime.
- Inspect and maintain terminal infrastructure, including lighting and power systems.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inspection reports.
- Coordinate with operations teams to schedule maintenance activities.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.
- Support ongoing upgrades, retrofits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow all company safety policies and participate in safety programs.
- Assist supervisors and team members during vessel operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in production line maintenance or industrial maintenance required.
- Hands-on experience with motors, gearboxes, and conveyor systems.
- Experience with bucket elevators and bulk material handling equipment.
- Basic knowledge of PLC troubleshooting and automated systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have or be eligible to obtain a TWIC.
