Overview

The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that materials, components, and processes meet established quality standards and specifications. This role involves conducting inspections, documenting findings, and collaborating with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. Sundt is a 100% employee-owned contractor focused on building long-term prosperity for clients, communities, and employee-owners.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality control plans, inspection procedures, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Document inspection results and maintain accurate records in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company quality policies.
  • Identify non-conforming materials or products and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, as required.
  • Perform inspections on incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Utilize a variety of inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in quality inspection or quality assurance, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with data entry or quality documentation systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and standards such as ISO 9001, ACI, ASME, or AWS (as applicable).
  • High school diploma or GED required, associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment.
  • Strong understanding of measurement and test equipment calibration.

Additional Information

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Occasionally will climb stairs, ladders, etc.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs on an occasional basis.
  • Will work various shifts, including swing, night and weekend.
