Job Description

Overview

This is a full-time position responsible for the repair and maintenance of fleet vehicles, including preventive maintenance and repairs in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs and maintains county vehicles and off road equipment.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and changes and repairs tires.
  • Provides accurate records of work performed and prepares repair orders.
  • Acquires part numbers and prices for parts needed for maintenance and repair.
  • Purchases equipment and parts.
  • Repairs vehicles and equipment in the field as needed.
  • Remains available to respond to disabled emergency vehicles after normal working hours.
  • Locks facility at the end of work shift.
  • Records fuel readings.
  • Performs electrical and mechanical diagnosis on computerized engine controls.
  • Fabrics and welds heavy equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work.
  • Basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Possession of State of Georgia issued valid Class B CDL Driver’s License within 90 days of being hired or promoted into this position.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
