Job Description

Overview

The Aerospace Welder is responsible for the production of quality aircraft component weldments, capable of fitting and welding complex assemblies while holding tight tolerances. Attention to detail and the ability to read engineering documents are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to weld 4130 materials using TIG process.
  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
  • Familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment.
  • May prepare the materials and set up for a welding fixture or coworker.
  • Will be required to complete on-the-job training.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a 2 year vocational welding program and 5 years related experience (preferred).
  • Must be able to pass required weld certification per AWS D17.1.
  • Must be able to pass an AWS eye exam.
  • Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Use of hand and power tools as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong attention to detail.
