Overview
The Welder - Certified position involves performing ASME and/or PED code specified welding processes such as MIG and TIG welding, focusing on joining various metals and joint designs. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to quality standards, and effective communication with team members and management.
Responsibilities
- Select proper tooling and fixturing for MIG and TIG welding jobs.
- Set up the welding machine according to the Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).
- Inspect welds for defects and document any identified issues.
- Make repairs to defective weld areas or materials as necessary.
- Weld or repair broken and special fixturing and tooling.
- Notify quality control and supervision of any defective parts.
- Coordinate with production to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and safety procedures.
- Prioritize workflow through effective communication.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- May need to obtain NBIC CI certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Two years of related experience or technical school graduate in welding.
- Ability to complete all necessary TIG welder certifications.
- Ability to read, write, and process instructions.
- Must pass Welder Procedure Qualification (WPQ) testing for certification.
- Must be able to read and understand basic manufacturing mechanical blueprints.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to interpret ASME and/or PED code WPSs.
- Ability to use lifting and moving equipment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Quality-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
- Willingness to work overtime and alter hours as needed.
