Overview
The Welder/Fabricator Level II performs a wide range of welding and fabrication tasks with moderate supervision, requiring solid technical skills and the ability to work from blueprints independently while focusing on quality and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Performs MIG, TIG, and/or Stick welding on a variety of materials and thicknesses.
- Independently reads and interprets blueprints, weld symbols, and specifications.
- Fits, aligns, and assembles components with minimal supervision.
- Sets up and adjusts welding equipment for different jobs.
- Performs more complex fabrication tasks including layout and part modification.
- Inspects own work to ensure it meets quality standards and tolerances.
- Troubleshoots basic welding and fit-up issues.
- Maintains productivity standards and supports continuous improvement efforts.
- Trains and mentors Level I employees as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
- 2–5 years of welding/fabrication experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding processes.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed prints and specifications.
- Understanding of the use of various types of equipment and tools common to the welding trade.
- Understanding of the characteristics and properties of various metals used in welding.
