Overview

Herr Foods Inc. is seeking a qualified Fleet Mechanic to join their Northeast Philadelphia team, offering a competitive salary and a range of benefits. The role involves repairing and maintaining diesel and gasoline commercial trucks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and make repairs on a fleet of light duty delivery trucks.
• Read job orders and observe trucks in operation to determine malfunctions.
• Perform preventative maintenance inspections.
• Maintain a Preventive Maintenance Program for all branch company vehicles.
• Install new ignition systems, align front wheels, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
• Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks.
• Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired trucks to verify conformance to specifications.
• Maintain parts inventory.
• Ensure all work orders are completed and entered for repair work completed.
• Work with Fleet Manager on problems or issues with trucks, people, inventory, and budget.
• Review and be responsible for budgets on all branch vehicles with Branch Manager.
• Coordinate with Route Sales People on repairs performed and note any deficiencies.
• Coordinate outside work with all subcontractors used.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or at least five years of related experience.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Working knowledge of total engine repair and replacement, running gear and suspension, electrical and welding.
• Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English.
• Stable work history with good references.

Additional Information

• Full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule, approximately 40-45 hours a week.
• Eligible for up to a $250.00 retention bonus.
• Must live or relocate to within 45 minutes of the branch.
