Overview

Anchor Industries is seeking a Senior Welding Fabrication Specialist & Mentor who excels in precision welding and enjoys mentoring others. The role involves leading by example in manufacturing structural components for tent frames and temporary structures while ensuring high-quality welds and compliance with AWS D1.1 inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Adjust MIG/TIG machines, wire feeders, shielding gases, and fixtures for complex setups.
  • Read prints and weld symbols, plan sequence, and control distortion to turn drawings into reality.
  • Deliver structural-grade, full-penetration welds with a clean, consistent finish.
  • Mentor junior welders to elevate technique, safety, and productivity across the cell.
  • Partner with quality and engineering to contribute to WPS creation and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain 5S and adhere to OSHA practices, with flexibility for overtime or special projects.

Requirements

  • HS diploma/GED; technical or vocational welding training strongly preferred.
  • 3–5 years in structural/production welding within manufacturing or fabrication.
  • AWS D1.1 certification or ability to re-certify upon hire.
  • Proficiency in GMAW (carbon steel) and GTAW (thin-gauge steel or aluminum).
  • Skilled in flat, horizontal, and vertical welding to code quality.
  • Fluency in blueprint and weld-symbol reading; metric and imperial measurement skills.
  • Basic fabrication skills including cutting, layout, grinders, saws, and hand tools.
  • Strong communication skills with excellent time management; committed to teamwork, safety, and improvement.

Additional Information

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision welding.
  • Tolerance for heat, noise, and metal-fume environment with PPE provided.
  • Enjoy a climate-controlled shop with occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and caustic/toxic chemicals.
