Overview

DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is seeking a Welding Technician to join their team at the Port of Alexandria Facility. The company specializes in high-voltage substations and emphasizes a collaborative approach to project delivery, valuing relationships with customers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Assist FBS Welders in cutting, fitting, and welding aluminum bus pipe and cable jumpers.
• Support the production process of the PFB in the Project Services Center.
• Read blueprints and manipulate machinery or equipment, including cranes.
• Apply simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers.
• Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
• Position and align parts to form complete structures following blueprints.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and common power tools.
• Move parts safely into position using hoists or cranes.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in the warehouse and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Attend safety meetings as requested.
• Operate all machinery and equipment safely, including forklifts.
• Promote company goals and maintain an excellent safety record.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and understand measuring devices such as tape measures and combination squares.
• Ability to perform simple shop math including addition and subtraction of fractions and decimals.
• Experience using simple hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, and screwdrivers.
• Demonstrate safe work practices and maintain a clean work environment.
• Highly motivated with a desire to learn.
