Overview

The Welding-Pipefitter Fabrication Lead is responsible for supervising fabrication personnel, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety compliance. This role requires technical expertise in welding and pipefitting, along with strong leadership and communication skills to coordinate with project teams and maintain quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise fabrication personnel to support productivity, quality, and compliance with safety requirements.
  • Assign and track work orders, monitor progress, and provide updates to management.
  • Train and mentor welders, pipefitters, and shop personnel.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
  • Oversee fabrication, welding, and assembly for precision and compliance.
  • Resolve technical issues and improve efficiency and quality.
  • Work with the Production Manager to plan and prioritize shop workflow.
  • Coordinate with project teams to anticipate material needs and production constraints.
  • Maintain clear communication between the shop and project teams.
  • Ensure all work complies with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Partner with quality control personnel to inspect work and maintain documentation.
  • Enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly equipped shop.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in mechanical fabrication, welding, or pipefitting.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience in a fabrication shop.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and project drawings.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, including ASME and API.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to work in the field as needed, including travel to job sites.
  • Welding certifications, such as AWS or ASME, or NDE certification preferred.
  • Experience with pressure vessel or modular fabrication.
  • Proficiency in multiple welding processes, including SMAW, GTAW, and MIG/FCAW.

Additional Information

  • Work occurs in shop and field environments with exposure to welding fumes, noise, heavy equipment, and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in confined or elevated spaces when required.
  • Use required personal protective equipment according to company policy.
