Overview
The Boilermaker position involves assembling and repairing boiler frames, tanks, and related components, requiring expertise in welding, alignment, and maintenance. Responsibilities
- Locate and mark reference points for columns or plates on foundation using various tools.
- Attach rigging or signal crane operator to lift components to specified positions.
- Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frames, tanks, or vats.
- Hammer, flame-cut, file, and grind irregular edges of sections or structural parts.
- Bolt or arc-weld structures and sections together.
- Align water tubes and connect ends to drums and headers using a tube expander.
- Bolt or weld casing sections and other fabricated parts to the frame.
- Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities with tools and equipment.
- Install manholes, handholds, valves, gauges, and feed water connections in drums.
- Signal crane operator in lifting parts to specific positions.
- Assist in testing assembled vessels for leaks by pumping water or gas under pressure.
- Repair boilers or tanks in the field by unbolting or flame cutting defective sections.
- May fasten and caulk sections of vessels using pneumatic fasteners.
- May line firebox with refractory brick and blocks.
- May fabricate parts to adapt boiler to installation premises.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
Requirements
- 3+ years of documented field experience in chosen craft discipline.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions and documents.
- Must have a valid TWIC card.
