Overview
Savage is a global provider of supply chain infrastructure and logistics solutions with a commitment to supporting team member growth and impact. The Tankerman position involves preparing for cargo operations and safely completing the loading and discharge of Caustic Soda.
Responsibilities
- Prepare barge equipment as needed and oversee cargo operations.
- Operate and maintain all systems, including Ballast, Ballast Water Treatment, Electrical Distribution, Cargo Pumps, Mooring Winches, Cranes, and Bilge Pumps.
- Perform scheduled maintenance & inspections as defined in the maintenance system or on an 'as-needed' basis.
- Ensure all required cargo documents are available and in proper order.
- Communicate with dock/vessel personnel to ensure understanding of product properties and transfer procedures.
- Handle lines during docking & undocking if needed.
- Report hazardous or unsafe conditions to designated personnel and take corrective action as per company policy.
Requirements
- Must hold USCG Merchant Mariner Credential with international and national endorsements.
- International STCW Endorsements: STCW Basic Safety Training, PSC, Vessel Personnel with Designated Security Duties.
- Preferred International Endorsements: Able Seafarer-Deck, RFPNW.
- National Endorsements: Able Bodied Seaman, Lifeboatman, Ordinary Seaman, Steward’s Department.
- Tankerman PIC limited to Dangerous Liquid – Experience with Caustic Soda preferred.
- Must hold a valid TWIC card and a U.S. Passport.
- High School diploma required; Maritime Academy graduate preferred.
- ABS Nautical Systems NS5 experience preferred.
- Must have current USCG STCW Medical Certificate, renewed every 2 years.
