Overview

The Rolling Operator will manufacture strip material from ingots or casted strip, ensuring a clean and safe environment while operating rolling mills to achieve specified thickness and physical properties. Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe environment by following 6S principles.
• Operate rolling mills to reduce strip metal to specified thickness and physical properties.
• Position material in rolling mill and adjust rolls and guides according to size and dimensions.
• Establish general processing techniques for new materials and adjust controls as needed.
• Operate slitters and observe setup and measurement devices to ensure quality material processing.
• Support cladding operations, including preparation and processing of cladded materials.
• Train on and operate cladding-related equipment and processes as assigned.
• Assist in all functions of the Rolling Department and cross-train to support cladding operations.
• Perform visual inspections for surface defects.
• Interpret and follow shop work orders.
• Complete multiple work assignments in a timely manner.
• Work with OPEX Engineering staff on efficiency improvement projects.
• Assist area manager with 6S initiatives and process improvement projects.
• Maintain each machine in a 'model clean' state by performing regular cleans.
• Maintain the surface of the machine’s rolls and clean or replace them as necessary.
• Stage in-process work material properly to prevent contamination and damage.
