Overview
The Painter Helper position involves operating equipment to apply protective and decorative coatings on various products in a commercial/industrial environment. The role requires knowledge of painting techniques and safety standards, as well as the ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
Responsibilities
- Tend and operate equipment used to spray or coat products.
- Prepare and apply stencils, decals, and other decorative items.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Inspect surfaces for contamination prior to application of paint.
- Apply high performance protective coatings to metal surfaces and structures.
- Use various painting techniques including spray, brush, and roll.
- Select and mix appropriate paint.
- Clean equipment and perform routine maintenance.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety program standards.
Requirements
- Completion of college/vocational or technical training in a related field is an asset.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an industrial painter in a manufacturing setting is an asset.
- Previous experience painting sheet metal.
- Experience using a spray gun.
- WHMIS Certification.
- Ability to work independently.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Physical ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to distinguish colours.
