Overview
The Maintenance Welder will provide welding and metal fabrication services to support the repair and replacement of various structures and equipment at the Sandia National Labs Kauai Test Facility. Wolverine, an Akima company, is dedicated to supporting its Alaska Native shareholders and providing essential services to federal projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide welding and metal fabrication services for the main complex docks, voice/data cable systems, distribution systems, equipment, maintenance equipment, range systems, and rocket ground support equipment.
- Support mission operations by working with and supporting other trades.
- Fabricate or repair items using brazing, gas and arc welding processes, thermal cutting, and grinding.
- Use sheet metal working machines and hand tools for cutting, bending, forming, shaping, fitting, and installing sheet metal articles.
- Operate metal shop equipment such as a lathe, mill, drill press, and grinder for fabricating maintenance items.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen with a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and client drug screen.
- Broad background in structural maintenance skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Qualified for manual shielded metal arc welding of unlimited thickness plate and square and rectangular tubing under ANSI/AWS D1.1-90 and ANSI/AWS D14.1-85.
- Qualifications under ANSI/AWS D1.2-90 and ANSI/AWS D9.1-90 are desired.
- Must possess (or be able to obtain) an active DOE L clearance; preference for those with an active clearance.
- At least five years of experience as a welder with exposure to other structural maintenance areas.
