Overview

Kiewit’s Oil, Gas, and Chemical Engineering Group is seeking a Structural Designer to join their innovative team of engineers and designers. This role involves collaborating with module fabrication and construction teams to deliver safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that meet client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Proactive about learning new information and skills.
  • Initiates development of personal objectives aligned with those of the organization.
  • Seeks feedback and uses it effectively.
  • Has good understanding of the complete design and provides input for improvements.
  • Utilizes codes and standards to complete assignments.
  • Recognizes inefficiencies or misuse of symbology and questions them.

  • Handles various assignments, including rework, in a timely manner to meet schedule deadlines.
  • Performs assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize productivity.
  • Conducts quality checks of the design in a team environment to ensure accuracy.
  • Carries out assignments carefully while focused on details.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or High School diploma with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
  • 2-4 years' minimum relevant experience in civil/structural design.
  • Receives limited instruction on routine work and detailed instruction on new assignments from more experienced engineers.
  • Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
  • Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
  • Participates on teams effectively and accepts direction from the team.
  • Supports project teams and departments positively and productively.
  • Serves as point of contact for external or internal customers.
  • Follows through on commitments made to internal and external customers.
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Intermediate AutoCAD skills.

Additional Information

  • Position is based out of the Energy Corridor Office in Houston, TX.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.
  • Work during normal operating hours and may require overtime and weekends.
  • May work at various different locations with varying conditions.
