Overview
HDR is looking for a Substation Project Structural Engineer to join their Power Delivery team. This role involves executing structural engineering tasks for high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects, contributing to the development of reliable and sustainable power systems.
Responsibilities
- Execute structural engineering tasks for substation structural members.
- Execute foundation design tasks for substation structures using industry standard software.
- Prepare and/or review specifications for construction and materials.
- Assign project tasks to EITs and provide technical guidance.
- Coordinate and/or perform quality checks and reviews for project deliverables.
- Collaborate with other engineers to develop and maintain standards.
- Work independently and mentor EITs and Designers.
- Participate in project reviews as needed.
- Some travel may be required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board.
- Minimum 5 years of technical design experience with high voltage electrical switchyard and substation projects.
- Technical design experience with physical/outdoor design of substation projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards like NESC, NEC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE-113.
- Experience using design software including PLS-Tower, Mathcad Prime, AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Working knowledge of AISC-360, ASCE-7, ACI-318.
- Self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills.

Additional Information
- Full-time position.
- Primary location is in California, with other locations in California.
- Expected compensation range is $94,000 - $135,000.
