Overview

This position at Sargent & Lundy offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a mix of on-site and remote work. As a member of the structural design team, you will engage in developing structural physical layout drawings using 3-D modeling software and lead the coordination of detailed design phases.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3-D model.
• Design structural supports and foundations, and troubleshoot structural design issues.
• Utilize 3D modeling software tools to generate structural design schematics.
• Act as the structural design team lead in coordinating detailed design phases.
• Coordinate and guide other designers and project team members.
• Plan and execute structural design deliverables independently and as part of a team.
• Assist senior designers and engineers in field walkdowns and data gathering.
• Mentor less experienced drafters and designers.

Requirements

• Foundational undergraduate program in a technical area including drafting, or a high school diploma with 1 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.
• Ten (10) or more years of detailed design experience in structural steel and reinforced concrete design drawings.
• Proficiency with design software tools for 3D plant layout models.
• Experience reviewing structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
• Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.
