Overview

Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with commercial diving certification to perform structural inspections of marine structures and ports. The position is based in New York City and involves working with a professional engineering inspection team on complex waterfront infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assets.
  • Ensure that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget.
  • Conduct data entry and technical writing for inspection reports and proposals.
  • Analyze deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacity.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide quality assurance reviews of inspection reports.
  • Collaborate with team members and other engineering disciplines.
  • Assist with civil and structural design.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, with a preference for structural coursework.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Certified Commercial Diver required; certification from ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS, or a US military equivalent diving school.
  • Entry level to 4+ years of related diving and inspection experience required.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing and personal transportation required.
  • Boater Safety Card preferred.
  • Availability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to pass background check for Department of Defense DBIDS card preferred.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred.
  • Consent to and pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check in compliance with NIST 800-171 required.

Additional Information

  • Most work is local/regional with the ability to return home most evenings.
  • When travel outside of New York is required, it is typically less than 2 weeks in duration.
