Overview
Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with commercial diving certification to perform structural inspections of marine structures and ports. The position is based in New York City and involves working with a professional engineering inspection team on complex waterfront infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform site investigations of marine structures, bridges, and other infrastructure assets.
- Ensure that the scope of work is fulfilled as directed and that deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct data entry and technical writing for inspection reports and proposals.
- Analyze deteriorated components of marine and bridge structures to assess load capacity.
- Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
- Provide quality assurance reviews of inspection reports.
- Collaborate with team members and other engineering disciplines.
- Assist with civil and structural design.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university, with a preference for structural coursework.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
- Certified Commercial Diver required; certification from ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA, ADAS, or a US military equivalent diving school.
- Entry level to 4+ years of related diving and inspection experience required.
- Valid driver's license in good standing and personal transportation required.
- Boater Safety Card preferred.
- Availability and willingness to travel as required.
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
- Possess DBIDS card or eligibility to pass background check for Department of Defense DBIDS card preferred.
- Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferred.
- Consent to and pass a post-offer/pre-employment drug screening required.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check in compliance with NIST 800-171 required.

Additional Information
- Most work is local/regional with the ability to return home most evenings.
- When travel outside of New York is required, it is typically less than 2 weeks in duration.
