Overview
WSP USA is seeking a highly energetic, self-motivated, and goal-oriented Senior Structural Engineer to support their Transportation Facilities Group in the New York, NY office. This position offers varied projects in the transportation field and the opportunity to work collaboratively with clients and other professionals on significant engineering projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering staff on various task assignments.
- Develop structural design details, drawings, and specifications.
- Create drawings in REVIT (BIM), AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Open Building.
- Utilize structural software such as STAADPro, RAM Structural System, SAP2000, ETABS, and SAFE.
- Use Microsoft Excel and Mathcad Prime for structural calculations.
- Lead field inspection teams for evaluation of existing structures.
- Coordinate with various engineering disciplines and architects.
- Work within a paperless office environment and remotely as needed.
- Collaborate with engineers and infrastructure authorities on projects.
- Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering, or equivalent.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering is highly preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior structural design experience in transportation projects.
- PE Licensed (NY/NJ) or capable of obtaining a New York State PE license within 1 year.
- Knowledgeable in state and city building codes and industry standard specifications.
- Prior experience working with construction documents.
- Knowledgeable in structural design software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System, Mathcad, and Excel.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT; knowledge of MicroStation and Open Building is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective self-leadership with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to learn new techniques and comply with company policies.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
