Overview
The Weld Manager at Metalcraft of Mayville is responsible for overseeing a team of welders, managing operations, and ensuring production quality and safety. This role includes hands-on welding and maintenance of equipment, while promoting a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of welders and weld operators.
- Perform hands-on welding as needed.
- Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
- Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems and complaints.
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
- Coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
- Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and improve production methods.
- Conduct employee training in equipment operations or safety procedures.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in production.
- Read and analyze charts, work orders, and production schedules.
- Plan and establish work schedules and assignments to meet production goals.
- Keep records of employees' attendance and hours worked.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturing processes and production requirements.
- Requisition materials, supplies, and equipment parts.
- Monitor output to ensure operators conform to production standards.
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards and policies.
- Provide recommendations for correction or improvement.
- Promote a positive and growth-oriented mindset among peers and subordinates.
Requirements
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in a metal fabrication shop.
- Welding experience (MIG & TIG); robotic welding experience is a plus.
- Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing.
- Ability to manage and supervise employees to meet production standards.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls aspects of robotic equipment.
- Detail-oriented with self-motivation and multi-tasking abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Strong leadership, motivation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Good computer skills and knowledge of manufacturing reporting software.
