Overview

Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company that focuses on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Entry Mid-Level Welder position involves production welding and tack welding to assemble products under the direction of a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform production welding and tack welding using the GMAW process.
• Set up and assemble products for the unit.
• Manually position shafts and use a jib crane for lifting components.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel and jigs for cutting holes.
• Measure distances and angles using various tools.
• Work in confined areas to assemble components.
• Use motorized grinders, buffers, and drills to assist in assembly.
• Maintain safety awareness and report unsafe conditions.
• Consult management regarding training needs.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment or graduation from a Technical Training Program focused in welding.
• Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• High School Diploma or GED is highly qualified.
• 1 year previous experience welding in an assembly environment is highly qualified.
• 1 year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools is highly qualified.
• Must have the ability to check one's own work for quality assurance.
