Overview
The Welding Field Engineer at Bechtel will lead and maintain global construction field welding programs while providing specialized welding engineering support for a mid-scale LNG production and export facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Bechtel has a long history of delivering successful projects across various sectors, emphasizing quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Support inspection activities using ITP and engineering drawings.
- Provide specialized welding & inspection support for construction to ensure compliance with code and Bechtel procedures.
- Manage the issue of weld filler materials for welders.
- Plan NDE activities of welding and coordinate with construction.
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety.
- Implement the project ES&H program and quality control program.
- Support the maintenance of calibrations for Pre/PWHT equipment.
- Perform inspections and documentation of all welding, NDE, and Pre/PWHT activities.
- Prepare material requisitions and maintain inventory for Pre/PWHT equipment.
- Coordinate work activities and training of direct hire Pre/PWHT personnel.
- Support crafts in meeting quality requirements to maintain cost and schedule.
- Coach lower-level engineers within the welding discipline.
- Maintain weld inspection tracking system using Bechtel specific automation tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
- NDE Certs including PT, MT, and LT (Vac Box).
- Must be certifiable by written examination to Bechtel's nondestructive examination requirements as NDE Level II Visual Examination.
- Heavy industrial direct hire construction experience.
- Advanced knowledge and/or certifications in SMAW / GTAW / GMAW / FCAW.
- Advanced knowledge of Piping Design Drawings / Specifications and TEAMWorks / WITS.
- Intermediate understanding of Preheat/ Post weld heat treatment.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction methods.
- Ability to motivate team members effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Ability to problem-solve in high pressure situations.
- Strong technical background in LNG welding applications and methods.
- Experience on an LNG construction site along the U.S. Gulf Coast.
- Understanding of applicable Bechtel work processes.
- Knowledge of Bechtel's SWPP Welding Program and related documentation.
- Familiarity with Bechtel Standard Applications (BSAPs).
