Overview

TDI, a part of Unison and a GE Aerospace Company, has been a leader in the design and manufacturing of turbine-powered start systems for over 40 years. The Aerospace TIG Welder position involves performing welding operations and ensuring quality standards in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Welds metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, or manufacturing operations sheet using electric arc-welding equipment.
  • Welds in various positions and examines welds for specifications.
  • Applies filler rod to supply weld metal and cleans weld joints.
  • Positions or clamps work pieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
  • Verifies fixture calibration and maintains eQuals requirements.
  • Uses standard shop measuring devices like calipers and micrometers.
  • Performs basic housekeeping of the cell (5S).
  • Reviews and follows work instructions and specifications.
  • Ensures all company paperwork is filled out accurately.
  • Fully understands blueprints and identifies revision levels.
  • Produces error-free products and meets production goals.
  • Works to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines.
  • Understands safety and machining hazards.
  • Has a basic understanding of welding processes in the home cell.
  • Undergoes on-the-job training to obtain CVP certification within the first 6 months.
  • Complies with all GE policies and keeps the team informed of work progress.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successful completion of a TIG welding training course.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

Additional Information

  • Wages start at $23.70 per hour based on experience.
  • Must be able to stand for 6 to 8 hours a day and lift/move up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to moving machinery and use of approved chemicals.
