Overview
TDI, a part of Unison and a GE Aerospace Company, has been a leader in the design and manufacturing of turbine-powered start systems for over 40 years. The Aerospace TIG Welder position involves performing welding operations and ensuring quality standards in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Welds metal components as specified by layout, blueprints, or manufacturing operations sheet using electric arc-welding equipment.
- Welds in various positions and examines welds for specifications.
- Applies filler rod to supply weld metal and cleans weld joints.
- Positions or clamps work pieces together or assembles them in a jig or fixture.
- Verifies fixture calibration and maintains eQuals requirements.
- Uses standard shop measuring devices like calipers and micrometers.
- Performs basic housekeeping of the cell (5S).
- Reviews and follows work instructions and specifications.
- Ensures all company paperwork is filled out accurately.
- Fully understands blueprints and identifies revision levels.
- Produces error-free products and meets production goals.
- Works to established Lean Manufacturing guidelines.
- Understands safety and machining hazards.
- Has a basic understanding of welding processes in the home cell.
- Undergoes on-the-job training to obtain CVP certification within the first 6 months.
- Complies with all GE policies and keeps the team informed of work progress.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of a TIG welding training course.
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

- Wages start at $23.70 per hour based on experience.
- Must be able to stand for 6 to 8 hours a day and lift/move up to 30 pounds occasionally.
