Overview

The Pipefitter at the Robley Rex VA is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining various plumbing and piping systems in a medical facility and industrial laundry. The role involves both independent work and collaboration with a team of specialists under limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Layout, install, test, adjust, and maintain various piping systems and allied equipment.
• Perform new installations of plumbing and steam equipment from layout to finishing work.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on piping systems and allied equipment.
• Install and maintain pipe insulation of various materials.
• Install, repair, and maintain complex hospital equipment.
• Install, repair, and maintain HVAC plumbing equipment.
• Fit, install, and maintain hospital plumbing and laboratory fixtures.
• Provide support for automatic fixtures including routine maintenance.
• Install, test, and repair life support and safety systems.
• Maintain shop inventory and order materials for jobs.
• Install firestop as necessary.
• Understand how work supports VA's mission and participate in performance management.

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 0600-1630
• Physical Requirements: Handle objects weighing up to 45 pounds and work in cramped positions.
