Overview

The Pipefitter position at the Bath VA Medical Center in Bath, NY involves modifying, maintaining, and repairing various high, medium, and low pressure piping systems. The role requires a range of skills in plumbing and steam fitting within a healthcare facility.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, adjust, clean, and repair plumbing fixtures and systems.
  • Maintain steam operated equipment, heating and water systems, kitchen and laundry equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on utility systems and equipment.
  • Apply accepted steam fitting and pipefitting methods to resolve on-site issues.
  • Interpret and apply building plans and blueprints.
  • Utilize shop mathematics for layout of angles, arcs, and circles.
  • Conduct repairs and installations in hard-to-reach places using ladders and scaffolding.
  • Lay out and install piping, risers, and flexible branches at proper levels.
  • Test systems for circulation, flow, pressure, leak-free joints, and drainage.
  • Diagnose plumbing system malfunctions and perform necessary repairs.

  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
