Overview

This position serves as a Pipefitter within the Facility Management Service of the Aleda E Lutz VA Medical Center, located in Saginaw, Michigan. The role involves installing, modifying, repairing, and maintaining utility systems and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a journeyman Pipefitter assigned to the Pipe Shop within the Utility Systems Section.
  • Install, modify, repair, and maintain new and existing utility systems and equipment.
  • Work with various piping systems including low, medium, and high-pressure piping, natural gas, propane, and medical gas systems.
  • Maintain and install equipment such as steam humidifiers, water heaters, and boilers.
  • Clear drains, toilets, and sinks as needed.
  • Install or repair various types of pipes for utilities and medical gases.
  • Plan and determine equipment placement and ensure leak-free joints and operation.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on various systems throughout the Medical Center.
  • Monitor the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Building Management Systems (BMS) daily.
  • Purchase materials and services through computer-based programs.
  • Use Microsoft Office programs for communication and record-keeping.
  • Install and maintain systems associated with the sprinkler system.
  • Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to install and repair systems.

Additional Information

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 07:00am-3:30pm
  • Employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators.
