Responsibilities

• Assist other pipefitters in assembly, installation, and pipe testing.
• Work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Comply with safety, ethics, and environmental regulations.
• Select types and sizes of pipes, fittings, and valves.
• Assist in measuring and marking pipes for cutting and threading.
• Measure, cut, assemble, tack weld, and install pipes and similar products.
• Assist in repairing and replacing damaged pipes and installing fittings.
• Test installed piping systems according to specifications.
• Rig and flag cranes to move pipes safely.
• Work with minimal supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalence.
• One to three years of pipefitting/plumbing experience desired.
• Working knowledge of pipe craft formulas, materials, and drawings.
• Knowledge of equipment and techniques used in measuring and welding.
• Pass SMAW Tack welding test to become ABS certified.
• Knowledge of ship terminology and OSHA standards.
• Ability to read and comprehend plans and blueprints.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions.
• Knowledge of safe operation of hand and power tools.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read a tape measure and use a cutting torch.
