Overview

Valmont Industries is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and improving vital infrastructure. The Entry Mid-Level Welder position involves production and tack welding using the GMAW process under the direction of a supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform production welding and tack welding to assemble pole shafts using the GMAW process.
• Manually position shafts and lift components into place for assembly.
• Read and interpret drawings to determine parts needed for assembly.
• Use plasma torch to cut steel and jigs for cutting holes in shafts.
• Measure distances and angles using measuring tools.
• Work in confined areas to accurately assemble components.
• Use motorized grinders and drills to assist in product assembly.
• Maintain safety awareness and report unsafe conditions.
• Consult management regarding training needs.

Requirements

• Must be able to read and write English.
• Ability to use common manufacturing math.
• 6 months previous experience welding in a manufacturing or fabrication environment, or graduation from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in welding.
• Must pass GMAW 1-G flat plate and/or rotational weld test and maintain certification.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1 year previous experience welding in an assembly environment preferred.
• 1 year previous experience operating hand and/or power tools preferred.
