Overview
Valmont is a Fortune 1000 company focused on advancing agricultural productivity and reimagining vital infrastructure. The Welding Training Specialist will lead training in the welder training program, provide on-the-job coaching, and ensure compliance with AWS standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead training through Valmont's welder training program.
- Administer welder qualifications per applicable AWS standards.
- Support improvement, maintenance, and troubleshooting of welding processes.
- Collaborate with operations, quality, safety, and engineering teams.
- Execute training program and maintain applicable records.
- Perform process audits and correct deficiencies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve training.
- Complete Root Cause Analysis and deploy corrective actions.
- Conduct training on various welding topics and techniques.
- Provide hands-on training for multiple welding processes.
- Coach and train new and existing welding operators.
- Conduct welder qualification testing per AWS standards.
- Order and track materials, PPE, and tools for training.
- Coordinate with the site welding team and quality department.
- Recognize safety hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum five years of experience in a weld manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of multiple welding processes including GMAW, FCAW, and SAW.
- Knowledge of oxyfuel and plasma cutting operations.
- Commitment to a safe working environment.
- Ability to obtain CWI and CWE accreditations.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
- Knowledge of Valmont's quality system and standards.
