Job Description

Overview

Since 1965, Dowding has evolved from a tool and die manufacturer to a leading manufacturer of metal stampings, fabrication, and precision machined components. The Welder position involves performing various welding and cutting tasks using gas and electric welding equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
  • Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
  • Fabrics equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
  • Repairs equipment using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
  • Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum one year of MIG welding experience.
  • Tig welding experience preferred.
  • High attention to detail and ability to perform high precision work.
  • Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing maintenance work.
  • Ability to work in overhead structures and on scaffolds.
  • Ability to handle considerable glare and wear personal protective equipment.
  • Awareness of accident hazards that can involve severe cuts and bruises.

Additional Information

  • 1st shift from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.
