Overview
Since 1965, Dowding has evolved from a tool and die manufacturer to a leading manufacturer of metal stampings, fabrication, and precision machined components. The Welder position involves performing various welding and cutting tasks using gas and electric welding equipment.
Responsibilities
- Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job.
- Plans details of working procedure and tools and material requirements.
- Fabrics equipment by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
- Repairs equipment using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
- Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded.
- Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
- Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
- Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut material to size and shape.
- Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum one year of MIG welding experience.
- Tig welding experience preferred.
- High attention to detail and ability to perform high precision work.
- Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing maintenance work.
- Ability to work in overhead structures and on scaffolds.
- Ability to handle considerable glare and wear personal protective equipment.
- Awareness of accident hazards that can involve severe cuts and bruises.
