Overview

Mechanical Dynamics and Analysis LLC, a supplier of power generation services, is seeking a qualified Tig Welder to fabricate and weld gas turbine components and other related parts. This role involves diverse and technically challenging work within a growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Weld/Repair GE-type Buckets/Nozzles/shrouds and combustion components.
  • Set up and layout jobs using blueprints, diagrams, routers, and fixtures, and follow proper TIG welding procedures.
  • Inspect, maintain, and log preventative maintenance on welding equipment.
  • Set up all associated machines and equipment according to work instructions.
  • Visual inspect welds using fillet weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and final weld fixtures.
  • Perform weld inspections for size, face, and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions, and porosity.
  • Ensure daily compliance with all customer drawings and specifications to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Comply with all internal manufacturing safety standards and general shop housekeeping.
  • Comply with internal quality system, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift 25 lbs., and stand for extended periods.
  • Perform other related duties assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED/Apprenticeship classes or trade school.
  • Welding vocational school training or 3-5 years of experience with TIG welding in lieu of a certificate.
  • Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as required.
  • Basic knowledge of TIG Welding procedures, practices, and techniques is required.
  • Familiar with Power Generation (Turbine) equipment.
  • Familiar with NDE techniques such as dye penetrants.
  • Knowledge and ability to use hand and power tools associated with TIG welding.
  • Knowledge and ability to use standard precision measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow company repair procedures and directions.
  • Ability to work from blueprints, sketches, procedures, and other specifications.
  • Ability to weld in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Strong customer service experience in explaining and discussing needed repairs.
  • Ability to lead other diaphragm welders and supervise work being performed at the customer site.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic.
  • Good visual and auditory acuity.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
